Many people prefer to upgrade their PC rather than buying new. Here is the lowdown on upgrading.
There are basically 3 types of upgrades that we would recommend. Memory, Hard Drive and Operating System. Let's have a look at each of these individually.
MEMORY upgrades are by far the cheapest and best upgrade you can perform. If your computer has less than 1GB of memory installed, this is the option to go for. This will, in most cases, give an instant performance boost.
HARD DRIVE upgrades are best if you are running out of space as shown in 'My Computer'. These upgrades are not quite as common as memory upgrades due to the readily available external USB hard drives commonly used as storage.
OPERATING SYSTEM upgrades will bring your PC up to the newest operating system available. Not all computers will be compatible to do this and some will need memory upgrades and/or hard drive upgrades.
If you require more information or advice on upgrading, please complete the contact form.
Viruses are man-made pieces of code that have various functions depending on what the programmer wants to achieve. Viruses have the ability to change settings on your computer and others try to scam you into buying their software.
If your computer starts to behave differently or you get strange messages appearing, you may be infected with a virus. Not all symptoms like this are viruses.
If in doubt, disconnect your computer from the Internet by turning off your router and call your local experts, Countywide Computer Services immediately.
Ask yourself a question. If I irretrievably lost everything on my computer, would it bother me?
If things you have downloaded over the years, personal photograph, music, documents etc are stored on your computer, then you should be making regular backups.
Here at Countywide Computer Services, we can advise on the best method of backing up for you or we can even do it for you.
Please ask for advice or to book our services using the contact form.
Have you ever deleted a file or picture and then emptied the Recycle Bin?
Whenever you delete something off your computer, it is still actually on the hard drive until it gets overwritten by another file. Deleting it only removes the link to it.
Providing the file hasn't been overwritten, Countywide Computer Services can use special software that will scan your hard drive and recover deleted files.
